Message from the President
As human beings, we hold a fundamental belief that we can advance, that we can create a better life for ourselves and our families. To achieve this dream, access to higher education becomes more and more a necessity. The U. S. Department of Labor projects that 80% of the jobs being created require education beyond high school, and that the average person will have at least seven careers during their work life. It is this increasing demand for “life-long” learning that places community colleges serve a unique role in higher education in America.
Historically, it has been said that community colleges attempt to be everything to every body. In fact, members of our community come through our doors and become CCBC students for a variety of reasons. Some are older students who come to develop the basic skills and knowledge necessary to secure employment so they can better care for their families and become more productive members of the community. Some are “traditionally aged” and come to prepare for transfer into the university environment where they will continue their education. Still others come to develop new skills and abilities in response to a change in their work environment or to redirect their lives into new careers.
We provide programs for all these needs and more. As you read through our catalog, you'll find information on the programs and courses we provide to our community. We hope you will join us as we continue the work of building futures and giving hope.
